Oops I did it again!

So here it is, almost two months since my last post. Holidays are over, my son is off to basic training, we're  going through this awful polar vortex thing, and my sewing room is a mess again (see before and after pix of previous post).

Time to get back to business and a routine.  Mondays are always a great day for that, right?

Mad dash to Christmas

It's been a month since last post. Now I'm thinking Christmas presents and if it's too late to make anything.

I've decided the only logical time to make Christmas gifts is in the summer. Start in the fall and you never get done before Christmas has snuck up on you.

Sunflower centerpiece

Here is the little centerpiece I made for my dining room table. I wish I taken a "before" of the pitcher, but it's easy to describe.

Remember back in the '80s when EVERYTHING was country blue and had geese on it? Well, this pitcher was a hand-me-down and I almost gave it to Goodwill because it was cream with a blue line around it and it had yes, several of the ubiquitous geese with the red ribbon around their necks. A couple coats of glossy white spray paint turned it into this elegant little pitcher. Sunflowers and a burlap bow complete this simple look for fall.

Before and after - sewing room

Ever since I moved into my new house (1.5 years ago) my sewing area has been the dumping ground for, well, everything. I finally hunkered down and spent a few days organizing it. Following is my sewing room, before and after.

Project Runway All Stars Season 3

Project Runway All Stars Season 3 has started and I have a few comments:

I guess I was under the misunderstanding that PRAS was for the people who didn't win first time around. I was surprised to see Jeffrey Sebelia and Seth Aaron there. It doesn't seem fair to let them win another PR.

I missed the first five minutes of the show so didn't see who the new contestants were. When I saw Ari South I couldn't place her. The reason I couldn't place her is because when she was on the show before, she was a he. So Ari used to be Andy! I will say Ari makes a lovely woman.

Speaking of Jeffrey Sebelia... children's clothes? Who would want their kid dressed in designs by creepy neck tattoo Jeffrey? To be fair, I thought I'd check out his line before commenting, so I did, and here's what I found:

Really? Maybe this is what New York kids wear, but I live in the Midwest, and if my grandson went to school in a plaid blazer and cowboy boots he'd get the crap beat out of him.

I hate, hate, hate the "long on top, shaved on the side" hairstyle. Again, I guess it's really cool in the edgy, NY/LA world of designers, but that doesn't mean it's not ugly.

Finally, how fabulous is Debbie Harry? Blondie was hot when I was in high school/college, when MTV was just beginning, and I always thought she was one of the most beautiful women ever. So glad to see her back.
